ETSU WBK Team Participates in Angel Tree Program

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – On Friday afternoon, the ETSU women’s basketball team took time out of its busy schedules both on the court and in the classroom to purchase gifts for four children it adopted through the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program.

Through the Angel Tree Program, necessities and Christmas gifts are provided for disadvantaged children from infants to age 12. Locally, hundreds and hundreds of kids are registered for the program through the Salvation Army and volunteers have the opportunity to adopt an “angel” by selecting them from the Salvation Army Giving Tree located in The Mall at Johnson City as well at other area establishments.

The women’s basketball team adopted four area children – each under 7 years old – and purchased gifts for them at the local Toys R Us. Following the purchase of the Angel’s desired gifts, the team brought the presents to The Mall and placed them under the Giving Tree.

All of the Angel Tree gifts will be distributed to the children’s families on Dec. 17 and 19. The program will benefit approximately 2,700 area children.
