SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford senior guard Paige Anderson has been named the Southern Conference’s Student-Athlete of the Week, the league office announced today.
Anderson led the Bulldogs in scoring in the team’s pair of game over the winter break against SEC foes, No.8 Kentucky and Florida. She recorded a career-high 24 points at Kentucky, made 5-of-6 shots from the floor and went 12-of-14 from the charity stripe.
The Spring Garden, Ala., native scored 13 points against Florida, made 2-of-4 from long range and dished out two assists.
Anderson is currently fifth in the league in scoring (13.4 ppg), and fourth in free throw percentage (.871).
The two-time SoCon Player of the Week maintains a 3.87 GPA in accounting.
Other nominees included Appalachian State women’s basketball player Kelsey Sharkey, Georgia Southern women’s basketball player Meredyth Frye, Chattanooga wrestler Dean Pavlou and Wofford women’s basketball player Rachel Brittenham.
