Greenville, S.C. - The Furman men's soccer team took a break from studying for their exams on December 8, to volunteer in Santa's Workshop at the Shriners Hospital for Children in Greenville.

Head coach Doug Allison and the Paladins spent time with kids in Santa's Workshop as the children came to select a gift for Christmas.  The players also delivered signed soccer balls to children throughout the hospital and visited with the patients who traveled from as far away as Virginia and Alabama to be treated at the Greenville facility.  

"It was a great experience for our entire team and a wonderful chance to spend time with and interact with the children," said Allison.  "Talon Stroud, one of our seniors, helped organize the visit for us through Frances Fisher from Shriners.  We anticipate participating in a lot more activities with the Shriners Hospital for Children in the new year."

Shriners Hospitals for Children is a health care system of 22 hospitals dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing pediatric specialty care, innovative research, and outstanding teaching programs for medical professionals. Children up to age 18 with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate are eligible for care and receive all services in a family-centered environment, regardless of the patients' ability to pay.
