UNCG to Host College-Am and Youth Clinic

FOREST OAKS, N.C. ? As a new addition to the UNCG Bridgestone Collegiate men’s golf tournament, the UNC Greensboro athletics department announced today the formation of the Forest Oaks / UNCG College Amateur Tournament and Collegiate Junior Clinic.

Both events will be held at Forest Oaks Country Club on Saturday, October 25, the day before the UNCG Bridgestone Collegiate gets underway. The clinic will take part from 10-11:30 a.m at the Forest Oaks Practice Range. The demonstration and clinic will be conducted by the UNCG men’s golf team. Registration for the clinic is $10 and includes a hot dog, drink and a gift.

The Forest Oaks / UNCG College Amateur Tournament will follow, with lunch being served at 12 noon before the 1:30 shotgun start. Players from UNCG and Duke will be paired with foursomes who register. The field is limited to 18 teams and entries are being taken on a first come, first serve basis. Groups will play as a fivesome in a Modified Best Ball Format, using the college player’s drive and playing their own ball from there. Teams will select the two low best balls from the five scores as their team score. Prizes will be awarded. Registration for The Forest Oaks / UNCG College Amateur is $75 for Forest Oaks members and $150 for the general public. That will include driving range, lunch and dinner and prizes.

The UNCG Bridgestone Collegiate, featuring 15 of the nation’s finest college golf teams, gets underway on Sunday, October 26 with practice

rounds. The first two rounds of play will take place on Monday with an 8:30 a.m shotgun start. The third round will be played on Tuesday with tee times starting at 8:30 a.m. In its fourth year of existence, the UNCG Bridgestone Collegiate seems to grow bigger and stronger each year. This year, Louisville, Mississippi State, Duke, Michigan State, Memphis, Michigan and Pepperdine will play in the tournament -- all of which advanced to the NCAA Tournament last spring.
