INMAN, S.C. ? Wofford College students visited Spartanburg Christian Academy today (Monday, January 22) as part of the "Tour of the Terrier".

Members of the “Sports Marketing” Interim will spend this week traveling to local schools as part of a community outreach program that will introduce the children to Wofford students and the official boston terrier mascot, “Blitz.” 

The entire Spartanburg Christian Academy first grade met with seniors Chuck Vartanian and Laura Studstill and sophomores Elizabeth Sheets, Colleen Rice, and Patrick Knott. 

The Wofford students led a math lesson for the first graders, incorporating the Terrier mascot.  They also distributed free basketball tickets, posters, and pom-poms.  A visit from “Blitz” the terrier ended the first stop on the “Tour”.

First grade teacher Pam Line said the students "absolutely loved it."

The “Tour of the Terrier” continues on Tuesday with a visit to Arcadia Elementary.   The next stop will be West View Elementary on Wednesday and the tour concludes on Friday at Boiling Springs Elementary. 

On Thursday, the Wofford students and “Blitz” will read to children at the Spartanburg County Public Library branches in Boiling Springs and at the Westside location.  This stop on the tour promotes the “Terrier Tales” Reading Program which concludes February 3rd.  For more information about the “Terrier Tales” program click here: http://wofford.edu/athletics/sportsMarketing/content.aspx?id=19036.

Interim at Wofford is a non-traditional learning month where students have the opportunity to take classes not found in the normal liberal arts curriculum.   The “Sports Marketing” Interim class consists of ten students from various majors interested in marketing.
