SoCon announces cross country runners of the week
SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Furman’s Carly Wilkes and Carson Williams have been named the Southern Conference women’s and men’s cross country runners of the week, respectively, after all competition Oct. 16-22.
Both Furman athletes competed at the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals, in Madison, Wisconsin, on Oct. 19.
Wilkes, a junior, from Salem, Virginia, ran with a 6k time of 19:56, finishing 22nd overall. This is Wilkes’ second runner of the week recognition of the season.
Williams, a senior from Raleigh, North Carolina, finished with an 8k time of 23:07, placing 13th overall. This is Williams third runner of the week recognition this season.
The Paladins are now eyeing the Southern Conference Championship, which will be hosted by Furman in Greenville, South Carolina, on Nov. 2.
