About the Championship
The 2013 Southern Conference Women's Golf Championship took place on Sunday, April 14, through Tuesday, April 16, on the North Course at the Moss Creek Golf Club in Hilton Head, S.C., for the fifth straight year.
Chattanooga won the conference's automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Regional with their fourth consecutive conference tournament win in the six-year program history. The Mocs' Agathe Sauzon was the individual medalist with a final score of 218. College of Charleston’s Mary Chander Bryan shot a 1-under 71 Tuesday to vault from fourth into a tie with Sauzon atop the leader board, also finishing at 218.The two went to a sudden-death playoff on the par-4 hole 1 to determine the medalist, with Bryan’s 30-foot birdie putt missing by about a foot and a half. Sauzon, whose approach landed about three feet from the hole, putted in for birdie to lock up her first career title.
UNCG's Fanny Cnops, who was named Player of the Year, tied for third with Furman's Valentina Romero with a score of 219. Chattanooga's Emily McLennan was named Freshman of the Year.
