Wofford’s Filewich named SoCon Player of the Week
Senior records seventh double-double of the season
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford center Kyler Filewich has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for all contests from Jan. 6-12. The award is selected by the league office.
Filewich had 16 points on 8-for-12 shooting in Wofford’s 77-69 win over Western Carolina on Jan. 8. The senior also had season highs in rebounds and assists with 18 and six, respectively, in the contest. The native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, currently leads the SoCon in rebounding (10.5 rpg), which is 11th in the NCAA.
Wofford (8-8, 2-1 SoCon) plays at Furman (14-2, 2-1) today at 7 p.m. in a game that was rescheduled from Jan. 11. The Terriers travel to Chattanooga (10-7, 2-2) on Jan. 15, before hosting Mercer (9-8, 2-2) on Jan. 18.
