Tuesday's men's basketball roundup

Miami (Ohio) 75, Mercer 72

Ahmad Robinson scored 19 points to lead all scorers, but Mercer dropped its game to Miami (Ohio), 75-72 on Tuesday afternoon in the Fort Myers Tip-Off championship game from Suncoast Credit Union Arena.
The Bears shot 27-of-62 (44%) from the field compared to the RedHawks who went 27-of-53 (51%) from the field. Mercer outrebounded Miami (Ohio) 32-27, including a 13-6 offensive rebounding edge. Neither team was very efficient from three-point range as both teams shot below 30 percent from deep for the game.

The Citadel 100, St. Andrews 85

The Citadel basketball team used a pair of Paxton Davidson 3-pointers to pull away from St. Andrews University halfway through the second half to win 100-85 on Tuesday evening.
Brody Fox led the Bulldogs with 29 points on 10-of-14 shooting while Cam Glover had 17, four boards and three dimes.

Loyola Maryland 70, VMI 67

Despite a season-high 22 points by junior guard Rickey Bradley, Jr., the VMI basketball team fell by a close 70-67 score to host Loyola University Maryland Tuesday night at Reitz Arena in Baltimore.
 
Bradley came just two points shy of his career high of 24 points as he hit four three-pointers on the night, including three in the first half. He also finished with six rebounds and three assists to lead VMI's efforts during the contest.

Florida State 91, Western Carolina 57

Junior Brandon Morgan posted a season-high 13 points as one of three in double figures, but Western Carolina couldn't overcome a strong early offensive showing from ACC counterpart Florida State as the Seminoles handed the Catamounts a 91-57 nonconference win in men's basketball action on Tuesday night inside the Donald L. Tucker Center.

Samford 103, North Dakota State 98 (OT)

The Samford men's basketball team kicked off their Thanksgiving multi-team event tonight by hosting the North Dakota State Bison at the Pete Hanna Center. NDSU was on fire from deep and it forced the Bulldogs to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat as they closed regulation on a 14-0 run to force overtime. Samford controlled overtime to take a 103-98 victory to take their record to 5-2 on the season.

San Jose State 69, UNCG 64

The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's basketball team fell to San Jose State, 69-64, on Tuesday night at Lee's Family Forum during the 2024 Ball Dawgs Classic.
 
Ronald Polite III led the game with a season-high 19 points, while Kenyon Giles was second with 15 points.

Furman 61, Seattle

Sophomore Cooper Bowser totaled a career-high 17 points and 12 rebounds to notch his first double-double as Furman topped Seattle University, 61-56, in the Terry's Chocolate Vegas Showdown on Tuesday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.
 
The victory improved the Paladins, who received votes in this week's Associated Press Top 25 Poll, to 7-0 on the season and setup a match-up of unbeatens with No. 1 Kansas on Saturday in Lawrence, Kan. SeattleU slipped to 2-4 on the season.
