SoCon announces Nexstar basketball broadcast schedule
10 regular-season league games, five tournament games set for regional telecast
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc., Ingles Markets and the Southern Conference announced Tuesday that they will partner to broadcast 10 SoCon men’s basketball regular-season games, the men’s tournament quarterfinal games and the women’s tournament final throughout the league’s six-state footprint across a network of Nexstar stations.
“Our Nexstar regional television network uniquely provides valuable commercial television station coverage in the Southeast that supplements our national TV coverage,” SoCon Commissioner Jim Schaus said. “We are thankful for our outstanding partnerships with Nexstar and our sponsor Ingles Markets.”
The “Ingles SoCon Game of the Week” broadcast package will start with a doubleheader on Saturday, Jan. 7. Samford will visit UNCG at 4 p.m. in the opening contest of the package, followed by Wofford hosting The Citadel at 7 p.m.
Mercer visits ETSU on Saturday, Jan. 14, followed by VMI welcoming military rival The Citadel on Jan. 21.
The following weekend features pair of contests, starting with ETSU hosting defending SoCon regular-season and tournament champion Chattanooga on Saturday, Jan. 28. The following day, UNCG hosts Furman for the only Sunday contest on the men’s broadcast schedule.
Each Saturday in February will feature an Ingles SoCon game of the Week. Chattanooga makes its second Nexstar appearance when it visits Western Carolina on Feb. 4, with the Catamounts making their second straight appearance the next week when they head to chromatic rival Furman.
VMI hosts its second Nexstar game on Feb. 18 when it welcomes Samford. The package concludes with a wildcard game on the final day of the regular season, Feb. 25. That contest will be selected 10-14 days prior.
The quarterfinals of the Ingles SoCon Men’s Basketball Championship on Saturday, March 4, will air on Nexstar stations, as will the women’s final on Sunday, March 5.
Each game in the package will also air concurrently on ESPN+, and all 10 SoCon men’s basketball programs will be featured at some point during the season.
Nexstar affiliates with the opportunity to air games are: ECBD (Charleston), WBTW (Myrtle Beach), WGHP (Greensboro/High Point), WJHL (Johnson City), WMYT (Charlotte), WWCW (Lynchburg/Roanoke) and WYCW (Greenville/Spartanburg/Asheville). Although not a Nexstar station, WMUB (Macon), Mercer University Broadcasting, will also air select contests.
