Samford’s Faulkner named SoCon Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford forward Dylan Faulkner has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week presented by Ingles for all contests from Feb. 9-15. The award is selected by the league office.

Faulkner, who also won the honor of Dec. 8, led Samford to wins over Wofford and ETSU last week. On Feb. 11, the junior recorded 15 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks in just 15 minutes of play as the Bulldogs defeated Wofford, 97-80, at home. Three days later, the native of Calhoun, Georgia, had 24 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks in Samford’s 82-72 overtime win at first-place ETSU. Faulkner’s performances marked his sixth and seventh consecutive double-double.

For the week, Faulkner averaged 19.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocks, while shooting 57.7 percent from the floor.

Samford (15-12, 8-6 SoCon), who is on a five-game winning streak, travel to The Citadel on Feb. 19, and Mercer on Feb. 21.
