Samford’s Faulkner named SoCon Player of the Week
Forward averages a double-double over two games
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford forward Dylan Faulkner has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for all contests from Dec. 1-7. The award is selected by the league office.
Faulkner had a career-high 22 points, nine rebounds and an assist in the Bulldogs’ setback at VCU on Dec. 5. The junior recorded 23 points, a career-high 12 rebounds, three blocks and a steal as the Bulldogs defeated Cornell, 93-90, on Dec. 7. The native of Calhoun, Georgia, helped Samford erase a 15-point second half deficit against Cornell, which was spearheaded by a 19-4 run.
For the week, Faulkner averaged 22.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. Faulkner shot 73.9 percent from the floor in the team’s two contests.
Samford (5-6) will play its next game versus Bryan College on Dec. 15.
