Elon and UTC Players Nab Softball Honors

SPARTANBURG, SC -- Elon first baseman Jenny Gustin and Chattanooga pitcher Brittney Whittier has been named SoCon Player and Pitcher of the Week for the first week of March.

Gustin, a senior from Mooresville, NC (South Iredell HS), batted .615 on the week with three doubles and four RBIs, including a three-hit, three-RBI outburst in a 7-0 shutout of Charlotte. Her on-base percentage this week was even higher, at .667, as Gustin led the Phoenix (12-4-1, 0-0) to a 3-1 record on the week.

Whittier, a freshman hurler from Scottsdale, AZ (Xavier College Prep), won three games at the Speedline Invitational as UTC went 4-3, finishing as the tournament
