SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s Mats Ege has been selected as the Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for all competitions from Feb. 28-March 5. The selection is made by the league office.
 
Ege was the co-medalist at the Wake Forest Invitational in Pinehurst, North Carolina, which wrapped play on Tuesday, giving him his fourth career victory. The redshirt senior posted rounds of 71-70-68 for a tournament score of 209 (-1). The Kristiansand, Norway, native began the final round two shots off the lead but used five birdies over the final round to move to the top of the leaderboard. Ege led the field with 12 birdies and par-5 scoring (-4), while he played the par-4s at even-par. On Monday, Ege was named to the Haskins Award Spring Watch List - 1 of 15 golfers named to the list.
 
ETSU, the 15th-ranked team in the country, finished the Wake Forest Invitational second in the 12-team, 66-team field, with a 13-over-par 853. The Buccaneers concluded the event just one stroke behind first-ranked Auburn. ETSU shot 287 in the first round, 281 in the second round and 285 in the final round.
 
The Buccaneers play their next tournament in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, at the General Hackler Championship on March 18-20.
