SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga’s John Houk has been selected as the Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for all competitions from March 20-26. The selection is made by the league office.
Houk finished second at the General Hackler Championship in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, which wrapped play on March 20. After shooting a 74 in the second round, the senior shot a 68 in the final round to move up three spots on the leaderboard. The Etowah, Tennessee, native led the tournament in birdies (14) and par-5 scoring (-8).
Chattanooga finished tied for fourth at the General Hackler Championship in the 14-team, 81-golfer field, with a 3-over-par 867 tournament score. The Mocs shot 286 in the first round, 297 in the second round and 284 in the final round.
The Mocs play their next tournament in Columbia, Missouri, at the Tiger Collegiate Invitational on April 8-9.
