SPARTANBURG, S.C. Mercer’s Tobias Jonsson has been selected as the Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for all competitions in the spring season up to this point. The selection is made by the league office.
 
Jonsson finished second at the Palmas del Mar Collegiate in Humacao, Puerto Rico, which wrapped play on Tuesday. The senior posted rounds of 69-67-67 for a tournament score of 203 (-13). The Huddinge, Sweden, native completed the tournament with 16 birdies and one eagle.
 
Mercer finished tied for eighth at the Palmas del Mar Collegiate in the 16-team, 99-golfer field, with a 7-under-par 857 performance. The Bears shot 287 in the first round, 293 in the second round and 277 in the final round.
 
The Bears play their next tournament in Hilton Head, South Carolina, at the Wexford Intercollegiate on Feb. 19-20.
