SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Western Carolina’s Magnus Pedersen has been selected as the Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for all competition to this point in the fall. The selection is made by the league office and is the first one of the season.
 
Pedersen finished tied for third at the Golfweek Challenge in Pawley’s Island, South Carolina, which wrapped play Tuesday. The redshirt senior from Moss, Norway, posted rounds of 66-67-68 for a tournament score of 201 (-15). Pederson’s 201 marks the best three-round score of his Catamount career, highlighted by his career-best round of 66 in the first round. He had the second-best score of all golfers in the field on par-4 holes during the tournament as he had an average of 3.79 on those holes.
 
Western Carolina finished the Golfweek Fall Challenge third in the 14-team, 80-golfer field, with a 42-under-par 822 performance. The Catamounts shot 279 in the first round, 266 in the second round and 277 in the final round. The 266 in round two was a school record for a single round.


The Catamounts play their next tournament in Sapphire, North Carolina, as they host the JT Poston Invitational on Sept. 25-26.
