SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer’s Tobias Jonsson has been selected as the Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from March 1-7. The selection is made by the league office.
 
Jonsson won the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate, which wrapped play on Tuesday. The Huddinge, Sweden, native posted rounds of 69-65-70 for a tournament score of 6-under-par 204. Jonsson, who also won the SoCon honor on Oct. 12, finished with a tournament-best 17 birdies.
 
Mercer finished sixth in the 15-team, 75-golfer Cleveland Golf Palmetto. The Bears shot 277 in the first round, 284 in the second and 303 in the final round. Three other SoCon squads also competed in the event, with Furman placing second, Wofford finishing tied for ninth and Samford placing 13th.
 
The Bears will be back in action on March 19-21 in the Linger Longer Invitational in Eatonton, Georgia.
