SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU men’s golfer Algot Kleen has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from March 22-28. The selection is made by the conference office.
 
A sophomore from Fiskebackskil, Sweden, Kleen tied for fourth at the Hootie at Bulls Bay with a 12-under-par 204, his second-lowest 54-hole total as a Buccaneer, and helped ETSU to the team title at the Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, South Carolina. Kleen posted three straight rounds under par, opening with a 6-under 66 Sunday to hold a share of the individual lead and help ETSU to a 19-under 269, matching the program record for a single-round score. Kleen added a 1-under 71 Monday as ETSU set a program record for a 36-hole score at 28-under before finishing with a 5-under 67 Tuesday as the Bucs finished at 40-under 824, setting a program 54-hole mark and tournament record in the process. For the tournament, Kleen played the par-5s at 8-under, the par-4s at 3-under and the par-3s at 1-under. He helped ETSU to its second straight tournament win this season and second straight win at the Hootie at Bulls Bay.
 
A sport management major, Kleen carries a 3.826 GPA.
