SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s Mats Ege has been selected as the Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from March 8-14. The selection is made by the league office.
 
Ege finished tied for first at the General Hackler Championship, which wrapped Tuesday in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The native of Kristiansand, Norway, posted rounds of 67-67-69 for a tournament score of 13-under-par 203 to clinch his first collegiate title. The redshirt sophomore led the field with 17 birdies during the event as he became the third Buccaneer to win the General Hackler Championship, joining Seamus Power (2010) and Rhys Davies (2005, 2007).
 
ETSU won the 14-team, 84-golfer General Hackler Championship. The Buccaneers shot 274 in the first round, 282 in the second round and 284 in the final round for a tournament score of 24-under-par 840.
 
The Buccaneers will be back in action on March 26-28 in the Hootie at Bulls Bay in Awendaw, South Carolina.
