SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer’s Tobias Jonsson has been selected as the Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from Sept. 27-Oct. 3. The selection is made by the league office.
 
Jonsson won the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational in Erie, Colorado, which wrapped play on Tuesday. The senior posted rounds of 68-70-69 for a tournament score of 207 (-9). The native of Huddinge, Sweden, was tied with three other golfers for the best score on par-4 holes, averaging 3.80 on those holes. Jonsson finished the event with 14 birdies and 36 pars overall.
 
Mercer finished ninth in the 17-team, 100-golfer field, with a 3-over-par 867 performance. The Bears shot 288 in the first and second round before shooting a 291 in the final round.
 
Mercer plays its next tournament in Spartanburg, South Carolina, at the Carolina Cup on Oct. 8-10.
