UNCG’s Connor named SoCon men’s golfer of the week

Shot 5-under 208 to finish in the top five

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG’s Noah Connor has been selected as the Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from Sept. 14-20. The selection is made by the league office.
 
Connor finished tied for fourth at the Bearcat Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio, which wrapped play Tuesday. The senior from Reidsville, North Carolina, posted rounds of 68-71-69 for a tournament score of 5-under-par 208. The 68 and 69 that Connor shot in the first and third rounds, respectively, were Connor’s first rounds below 70 in his Spartan career.
 
UNCG finished the Bearcat Invitational second in the 13-team, 76-golfer field, with a 6-under-par 846 performance. The Spartans shot 277 in the first round, 283 in the second, and 286 in the final round.

The Spartans will play their next tournament in Burlington, North Carolina, as they will participate in Elon’s Phoenix Invitational on Oct. 10-11. Six SoCon teams will be in action this upcoming week, highlighted by Chattanooga, Western Carolina and Wofford traveling to Sapphire, North Carolina, for the JT Poston Invitational, hosted by the Catamounts, from Sept. 26-27.
