SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Ross Funderburke and Mercer’s Tobias Jonsson have been selected as the Southern Conference Men’s Golfers of the Week for all competition from March 30 to April 5. The selection, Funderburke’s first of the season and Jonsson’s second, is made by the league office.
 
Funderburke and Jonsson tied for 16^th at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational in Augusta, Georgia, on Sunday, April 3, with both golfers shooting a 2-under-par 214 over the course of the two-day tournament to also tie with UCF’s Teddy Tetak, Alabama’s JP Cave and Illinois’s Adrien Dumont de Chassart. Funderburke started the tournament shooting a 3-under 69 with four birdies and 13 pars in the first round before finishing at 1-under through the front nine and birdieing two of his final four holes on the back nine to shoot 2-under 70 in the second. The Roanoke, Virginia, native teed off on No. 10 and birdied three holes on the back nine, with consecutive birdies on No. 17 and No. 18, to turn at 3-under, and finish the last round with a 75 to pace the Paladins for the second consecutive tournament. Jonsson carded rounds of 71 and 69 in the first and second rounds, with his second-round score of 3-under 69 tying for the best round posted by a Bear in the tournament. The Huddinge, Sweden, native finished with a 2-over 74 performance in the final round and concluded the tournament with 12 total birdies and one eagle.
 
Furman and Mercer finished 11^th and 12th in the 15-team, 75-golfer field, respectively, with the Paladins concluding the tournament with a 13-over 877 performance and the Bears finishing with a 21-over 885 performance. Furman shot 291 in the first round, 290 in the second and 296 in the final round, while Mercer shot 293 in the first, 287 in the second and 305 in the final, with both teams earning wins over Georgia State (+24), Chattanooga (+27) and Navy (+51).
 
The Paladins’ regular season is complete. Furman returns to action at the Southern Conference Men’s Golf Championship at The Oconee Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Georgia, on April 22-24. The Bears close out their regular season on April 11-12, competing in the Wofford Invitational at the Country Club of Spartanburg in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
