University Place, Wash. – Western Carolina freshman Jake Peacock finished tied for 15th to lead the Catamounts to an 11th-place showing at the SeattleU Redhawk Invitational which concluded Tuesday at the par-71, 7,068-yard Chambers Bay Golf Course. The tournament was shortened to a single-round, 18-hole shootout on Tuesday after hazardous weather conditions chased teams from the course and the decision was made to cancel Monday's first two rounds.
 
Peacock finished tied with 15 other golfers with a 3-over par score of 74 on Tuesday. The Milton, Ga., product countered six bogeys with three birdies including two-consecutive on the back nine to rebound from 4-over par headed to his final five holes on the day.
 
Though just a stroke in arrears at 4-over par 75, junior Magnus Pederson finished tied for 31st, charting a pair of birdies on Tuesday. Senior Louis Theys placed in a 14-way tie for 59th with a 6-over par round of 77 with sophomore Presten Richardson (+7, 78) and senior Tumi Kúld (+8, 79) finishing tied for 73^rd and 86th, respectively, to round out the Catamount scoring five. Theys and Kúld both recorded one birdie with Richardson matching Peacock for the team-high with three.
 
Collectively as a team, WCU led the 23-team field in par-3 scoring, averaging +1 (3.05) on the shortest hole layouts. The Catamounts finished the 18-hole event with 49 pars and 10 birdies, tied for the seventh-most in the field.
 
Max Charles of Boise State shot 2-under par 69 to claim individual medalist honors in leading the Broncos to the team title in the shortened event. Charles edged Seattle's Nathan Cogswell (1-under par, 70) by a stroke. With the altered format, the podium was filled out by a four-way tie for third at even-par 71.
 
Behind Boise State (287), Abilene Christian and Seton Hall finished tied for the team runner-up with matching scores of 292 with the two-way tie between Oregon State and Seattle rounding out the top five finishing teams.
 
Western Carolina has one final tune-up event before the annual Southern Conference Men's Golf Championship at Reynolds Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Ga, April 22-24. The Catamounts next compete in the Wofford Invitational at the Country Club of Spartanburg on April 11-12.
