SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU men’s golfer Remi Chartier has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from April 20-26. The selection, Chartier’s first of the season, is made by the conference office.
 
Chartier clinched the individual title at the Southern Conference Men’s Golf Championship at Reynolds Lake Oconee’s par-72, 7,393-yard The Oconee Course in Greensboro, Georgia, on Sunday, April 24, shooting an 18-under-par 198 to set a program record for a 54-hole score versus par and win by eight strokes over UNCG’s Nick Lyerly. The redshirt sophomore began the championship with a 4-under 68 in the opening round before tying a program record and setting a SoCon tournament record for the lowest round with a 9-under 63 in the second. Chartier then polished off the event with a 5-under 67 in the final round to nab his first collegiate win, becoming ETSU’s 17^th SoCon medalist and third in the last three tournaments, and help the Buccaneers to their 22nd SoCon title win. He led the field in total birdies with 20 and paced the field in par-4 scoring (-8), while his 198 also tied a program record for the lowest 54-hole total in ETSU history.
 
The Montreal, Canada, native maintains a 3.57 grade point average and is majoring in media communications with a concentration in journalism and minoring in finance. 
 
The Buccaneers clinched an automatic berth to the NCAA regionals. The NCAA field will be announced live on Wednesday, May 4, at 4 p.m. (ET), on the Golf Channel.
