SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s Archie Davies has been selected as the Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from March 2-8. The selection, Davies’s first of the season, is made by the league office.
 
Davies posted his first top-five and fourth top-10 finish of the 2021-22 campaign at the Wake Forest Invitational in Pinehurst, North Carolina, on Tuesday, March 8, shooting a 4-over-par 214 to place fifth. The redshirt sophomore shot a 4-over 74 and a 1-over 71 with four birdies in the opening day of the tournament before shooting a 1-under 69 with three birdies and two bogeys on the final day to climb up the leaderboard and finish ahead of NC State’s Easton Paxton and Clemson’s Carter Pendley. The Carlisle, England, native led the field in par-3 scoring, playing the holes at 3-under-par for the tournament.
 
ETSU finished tied for fifth in the 12-team, 66-golfer field, carding the third-best score in the final round on Tuesday to complete the tournament with a 48-over 888 performance to tie with NC State. The Bucs shot 301 in the first round, 301 in the second, and 286 in the final round, earning wins over Iowa (+53), East Carolina (+57), Kentucky (+59) and Augusta (+69).
 
The Buccaneers return to the course on March 13-14, competing in Coastal Carolina’s General Hackler Championship at the Dunes Golf Course in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
