SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer’s Hailey Rhatigan and Iseabal Cryne have been named the Southern offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for all competition from April 27 through May 2.
 
Rhatigan claimed her first player of the week honor of the season after tallying three points on two goals and one assist against No. 17 Jacksonville on Sunday. The junior from Holbrook, New York, fired both of her shots on-goal, scooped up two ground balls and forced a turnover. Rhatigan’s first goal placed the Bears on the board with an assist from Eva Thorn. Less than one minute later, she scored her second goal to make it a two-goal game. Rhatigan is ranked third in the SoCon with 3.91 points per game and 3.00 goals per game.
 
Cryne recorded a career-high 17 saves against Jacksonville to earn this week’s defensive player of the week honor. The senior from Milton, Delaware, had a .548 save percentage against the Dolphins. Cryne is ranked second in the conference a .409 save percentage. 
 
Mercer (5-7, 2-2 SoCon) will play Coastal Carolina on Thursday, May 6, in the 2021 SoCon Women’s Lacrosse Championship semifinals. The Chanticleers won by just one goal in their regular-season match against the Bears, with the game-winning goal scored with 11 seconds left to play in Mercer’s 11-10 loss.
