Mercer to face No. 6 Florida in First Round of NCAA Tournament

The Bears and Gators will meet for the first time

INDIANAPOLIS – The Mercer women's lacrosse team learned they will head to Gainesville, Fla. to face the No. 6 Florida Gators for the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday evening during the NCAA Selection Show.
 
The Bears (7-7) enter the tournament after winning their third consecutive Southern Conference title on Saturday with a 14-13 final score over the Furman Paladins. This is the Bears third NCAA Tournament berth, the first two were in 2018 and 2019. The 2020 season was canceled due to Covid-19. Mercer has lost in both of their NCAA play-in games, first to Wagner in 2018 and then to Jacksonville in 2019.
 
Mercer will head to Gainesville after upsetting the No. 2 seed Coastal Carolina and the No.1 seed Furman Paladins during the 2021 Southern Conference Tournament.
