SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU graduate student Trevor Hulbert and Furman freshman Mac Scott have been named the Southern Conference Men’s Golfers of the Week for all competition March 17-23. The selection is made by the league office.
 
Hulbert and Scott share the weekly award after tying for fourth at the Schenkel Invitational at Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Georgia, from March 19-21. Hulbert and Scott both shot 4-under-par 212 for the event, finishing ahead of each of the seven top-100 individuals in the 80-man field.
 
Hulbert opened with a 3-under 69 to sit in a tie for sixth after the opening round. The Orlando, Florida, native followed that with a 1-under 71 Saturday to drop two spots into a tie for eighth before closing with an even-par 72 in Sunday’s final round, which was played in a steady downpour, to move up four spots into a three-way tie for fourth. Hulbert helped the Bucs to a fifth-place team finish in the 13-team field.
 
Making his career debut, Scott birdied four of his first five holes and sat in a tie for first place after day one after shooting a 6-under 66, which is the lowest score to start a career in program history, according to available records. The rookie from Mountain Brook, Alabama, dipped to second with an even-par 72 in Saturday’s round before posting a 2-over 74 on Sunday to close out his tournament and finish in a tie for fourth. He helped the Paladins to a third-place team finish.
 
ETSU is back in action at the Old Waverly Collegiate at the Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi, this Friday through Sunday, while the Paladins host their annual Furman Intercollegiate at the Furman University Golf Club on campus those same days.
