SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Coastal Carolina’s Lauren Cremen and Furman’s Meghan Deehan have been named the Southern Conference women’s lacrosse offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for all competition from March 16-22.
 
Cremen scored back-to-back hat tricks for the week with three goals against High Point on March 17 and a game-high four goals against Delaware three days later. The redshirt sophomore tallied a total of seven points on seven goals with 10 of her 12 shots on-goal for an .833 shots-on-goal percentage throughout Coastal’s two games. She was one of three Chanticleers to score three goals against High Point and scored the opening goal against Delaware with 26:15 remaining in the first half. Cremen has scored three hat tricks on the season and two game-winning goals, which is tied for the lead in the conference.
 
The Chanticleers (6-2, 0-0 SoCon) will return to action on Wednesday, March 24, to host the Campbell Camels. The opening draw is scheduled for noon ET.
 
Deehan earned her second consecutive defensive player of the week honors in goal after setting a season high with 11 saves against No. 25 Elon, surpassing her previous season high of nine saves on March 11 against VCU. In the first half, she made nine saves against 19 shot attempts. Deehan played in all 60 minutes against the Phoenix and earned a season-high .458 save percentage on 32 shots faced with 24 going on-goal. The Milton, Georgia, native also set a new career high with six ground balls and held Elon to its second-lowest scoring game of the 2021 season. 
 
Furman (3-3) returns to Paladin Stadium on Wednesday, March 24, to host Winthrop at 6 p.m.
