SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer’s Lily Morin and Furman’s Meghan Deehan have been named the Southern Conference women’s lacrosse offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for all competition from March 9-15.

Morin scored a season-high five goals and made two assists in Mercer’s 17-14 win over Winthrop on March 9. The graduate student from Marietta, Georgia, tallied three ground balls, won six draws, caused two turnovers and score six points, helping lead the Bears to their first win of the season. Morin, the SoCon leader with 1.75 free-position goals per game, has scored multiple goals in each of Mercer’s four games this season and leads the team with 13 goals on the season.

The Bears (1-3, 0-0 SoCon) return to action on Friday, March 19, for the conference-opening game against Wofford (0-4, 0-1) at 3 p.m. ET.

Deehan won her third consecutive game in goal as Furman defeated VCU 14-12 on March 11 with a season-high nine saves. She picked up three ground balls and caused her first turnover of the season while holding VCU to just five goals in the second half with six of her nine saves. Together, her and the Paladins defense forced VCU into 18 turnovers and limited the Rams to just 3-of-12 on free position attempts.
