SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Kyra LaMotte and Lauren Farber have been named the Southern Conference women’s lacrosse offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for all competition from Feb. 9-15.
LaMotte led the Paladins offensively in the first two matches of the season at East Carolina and Davidson with 11 points on 10 goals and one assist. In Furman’s season opener at East Carolina on Feb. 12, the senior from Winnetka, Illinois, tied her career highs of four goals and five points. Two days later, she followed with a career-high six goals at Davidson, which are tied for the third-most goals in a single game in the Paladins’ program history.
Joining her teammate in earning the first women’s lacrosse player of the week honors is Farber, a junior midfielder. Farber, member of the 2021 preseason all-SoCon squad, led Furman with five ground balls in its first two games of the 2021 season, along with three draws and one caused turnover. She ranked second on the team with four points on three goals and one assist. The native of Upper Arlington, Ohio, scored on all three of her shot attempts, scoring two goals at East Carolina and one against Davidson.
The Paladins return to action on Feb. 27 at noon for their first home match of the season against the Liberty Flames.
