NORMAN, Okla. – Three Southern Conference men’s golfers were among the Division I PING All-Region honorees announced Thursday by the GCAA. ETSU’s Shiso Go and Jack Rhea and UNC Greensboro’s Jonathan Brightwell all earned spots on the All-East Region squad.
 
Players across six regions – Northeast, East, Southeast, Midwest, Central, and West – earned all-region honors for 2020.
 
The selections for Go and Rhea mark the first time since 2016 that an ETSU Buccaneer was named to the all-region team, with the last honor belonging to Adrian Meronk. This is also the first time since 2008 that ETSU has placed a pair of competitors on the all-region squad, with the last duo being Rhys Enoch and Gareth Shaw. Go’s and Rhea’s selections also mark just the fourth time in program history that multiple Buccaneers were named to the all-region team.
 
Go turned in a strong junior campaign, finishing second on the team in scoring average with 71.62 strokes per round. The Kanagawa, Japan, native concluded the shortened season ranked No. 90 in the final Golfstat standings. Go was twice named the SoCon Men’s Golfer of the Week, including following a medalist victory at the inaugural Hoakalei CC Collegiate Invitational in Hawaii. Go capped off the season with three top-10 finishes and tallied 12 rounds of par or better, including five rounds in the 60s. Go was also tabbed to the Arnold Palmer Cup Watch List for the International Team.
 
Rhea proved to be a vital part in the success of the ETSU team this season, anchoring the Bucs throughout the year. Competing in all seven events this year, the Jonesborough, Tennessee, native placed in the top 10 in four different tournaments. Rhea won his first-ever individual medalist honors by winning ETSU’s home event, the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, played in his own backyard at the Blackthorn Club at the Ridges. Rhea was named SoCon Men’s Golfer of the Week on three occasions, was named SoCon Men’s Golfer of the Month for October and led ETSU with a 71.29 scoring average. After cracking the national top 25 earlier in the season, Rhea concluded the 2020 campaign positioned No. 36 in the Golfstat rankings. Like Go, Rhea was named to the Arnold Palmer Cup Watch List, but for Team USA, and concluded the year with 12 rounds of par or better, including five rounds in the 60s.
 
Finishing the shortened spring season at No. 13 in the nation, Brightwell won two individual championships during the fall and was named to the Haskins Award Watch List back in October. The senior averaged 70.09 over the 22 rounds in which he competed, taking a runner-up finish at the Martin Downs Collegiate and a top-10 finish at the Crooked Stick Invitational.
