SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer’s Tyler Copp and Western Carolina’s Pierre Viallaneix have been named the Southern Conference Men’s Golfers of the Week for all competition from Feb. 26 to March 3. The selections are made by the league office.
 
Copp and Viallaneix tied for 10th at the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate at the Fort Lauderdale Country Club in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Monday and Tuesday. They both shot 4-under-par 212 in the 78-man, 15-team field, which featured one ranked squad in No. 40 South Florida and five top-100 players.
 
Copp was under par in all three rounds, opening with a 1-under 71 in Monday’s first round and matching that in the afternoon round. He closed with a 2-under 70 on Tuesday to help Mercer to a seventh-place team finish.
 
Viallaneix opened with an even-par 72 on Monday before matching the second-lowest 18-hole score in program history with an 8-under 64 in the second round. He closed with a 4-over 76 on Tuesday to tie for 10th and helped the Catamounts to a sixth-place team finish.
 
Mercer is back in action at the Auburn Tiger Invitational on March 8-10 at the Grand National in Opelika, Alabama. Western Carolina is idle until the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club in Williamsburg, Virginia, on March 22-24.
