LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. – Former Wofford men’s golfer Andrew Novak claimed his first professional title on Sunday, birdieing the last two holes of the LENCOM Suncoast Classic to earn the PGA Korn Ferry Tour victory.
 
“Very good day for all of Wofford,” said Wofford men’s golf coach Alex Hamilton. “Any time you can get a win like that is an incredible accomplishment.”
 
Novak, who graduated from Wofford in 2017, finished the tournament 23-under-par 265, birdieing holes Nos. 17 and 18 day to capture his first victory on tour.
 
Novak opened up the tournament by shooting a 3-under-par 69 in round one and was locked in from there, carding a round-two 64 (-8) before posting a 6-under-par 66 in both the third and fourth rounds, edging out John Chin by a stroke. Through 15 holes on Sunday, Novak sat at 21-under-par and one stroke off of Chin’s lead.
 
While at Wofford, Novak racked up numerous awards, including three all-conference honors and the 2017 Southern Conference Golfer of the Year award. Novak currently holds the most wins in Wofford men’s golf history, claiming four collegiate titles during his time and finishing in the top five 15 times.
 
“Andrew is a great example of what it means to be a Terrier,” Hamilton said. “A graduate, a good man and a great and tough athlete.”
