JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The ETSU Buccaneers will start team play on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Seminole Intercollegiate in Tallahassee, Florida. The Bucs will enter the tournament as the 24th-ranked squad in the latest Golfstat rankings, released on Tuesday afternoon.
 
ETSU achieved its top-25 status after an outstanding fall campaign that featured top-three finishes in three of five events, including claiming the title at the Hoakalei CC Collegiate Invitational on Oct. 28-30, carding a 29-under-par (835) to win by nine strokes over then-ranked No. 41 Mississippi. The Bucs also tied for second in the season opener at the Carpet Capital Collegiate and placed second in the home tournament at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate.
 
The Bucs have had strong individual play as well as both Jack Rhea and Shiso Go have both claimed individual trophies. Rhea was the individual winner in the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, claiming the victory in his own backyard at the Blackthorn at the Ridges in Jonesborough, Tennessee. Go claimed the individual honors at the Hoakalei CC Collegiate Invitational in Hawaii, winning by five strokes.
 
The Bucs are filled with talent as Rhea is currently ranked No. 28 in the country in the latest Golfstat standings, while Go is 86th and Archie Davies sits in 116th overall. Davies is the 10th-highest ranked golfer among freshmen. Both Davies and Go are on the Palmer Cup Watch List for the International team, while Rhea has the attention of the USA Palmer Cup Watch List.
 
“I’m excited about this spring,” stated head coach Jake Amos. “We had a really strong fall, but we had some inconsistencies as a team. The goal this spring is to be more consistent from 1-5 in our lineup. I think if we do that, we will win again as a team. Jack and Shiso have already won a college event this season, but I would love to see them contend to win again and see who else wants to step up. Ultimately, everything we do this spring is to put ourselves in a good position going into postseason.”
