SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNC Greensboro senior Jonathan Brightwell has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from Sept. 6-10. The selection is made by the league office.

Brightwell shot an 8-under-par 208 to tie for fourth at the Badger Invitational at University Ridge in Madison, Wisconsin, this week. The Charlotte, North Carolina, native opened his fall season with a 2-under 70 on Sunday before jumping into a tie for the tournament lead with his 4-under 68 Monday. He closed with another 70 on Tuesday to notch the fifth top-five finish of his career.

Brightwell helped the Spartans tie for eighth in the 16-team, 96-man field, which included eight teams that finished in the top 100 of last spring’s Golfstat rankings.

The weekly award is the third of Brightwell’s career.

UNCG returns to action this Saturday and Sunday at the Rod Myers Invitational, hosted by Duke University at Duke Golf Course in Durham, North Carolina.

Also nominated: Jack Rhea (ETSU), A.J. Lintunen (Chattanooga) and Ryan Marter (Wofford).
