SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Detroit Mercy’s Lexie Kinmond and Furman’s Courtney Baker have been named the Southern Conference women’s lacrosse offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for all competition April 2-8.
A senior attacker from Peterborough, Ontario, Kinmond led the Titans with 15 points while helping lead them to victories over Howard and Delaware State. She notched nine goals and six assists on the week while recording four groundballs and a .882 shot on goal percentage.
Kinmond currently leads the conference in assists (27) and points (61) and leads the team in goals (34). This is her third offensive player of the week selection this season.
Baker, a goalkeeper from Queenstown, Maryland, helped lead the Paladins to a perfect 2-0 week, defeating Kennesaw State on Friday and conference opponent Mercer on Sunday. Playing all 60 minutes of both games, she faced 60 shots, saving 24 and recording a .571 save percentage.
The senior currently leads the conference in saves per game (13.00).
The Titans and Paladins will face off this Friday in Detroit, Michigan. The Titans will then welcome Wofford on Sunday while the Paladins will travel to Central Michigan to take on the Chippewas.
Also nominated for offensive player of the week: Anna Schoonover (Central Michigan), Sophie Brennan (Furman), Hailey Rhatigan (Mercer) and Ally Furnari (Wofford).
