SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer’s Hailey Rhatigan and Audrey Robertson have been named the Southern Conference women’s lacrosse offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for all competition March 26 – April 1.
A freshman attacker from Holbrook, New York, Rhatigan had a career week as she helped lead the Bears to two SoCon wins to open the conference season. She recorded a career-high 16 shots, 14 shots on goal, seven goals and two assists against Detroit Mercy on Friday and a career-high seven draw controls and three caused turnovers against Central Michigan on Sunday.
Rhatigan currently leads the league in goals per game (3.62), second in points per game (3.56) and points (32) in the conference as well as leads the conference in shots per game (8.33) and shots on goal per game (5.33).
Robertson, a defender from Stuart, Florida, recorded a season-high seven ground balls and seven caused turnovers on Friday against Detroit Mercy. She totaled 10 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers on the week.
The senior leads the league in caused turnovers (3.20) and is tied for second in the conference in ground balls per game (3.50) with the University of Detroit Mercy’s Kaitlyn Wandelt.
The Bears will continue conference action on Friday as they travel to Spartanburg, South Carolina, to take on the Terriers. They will then travel to Greenville, South Carolina, on Sunday to battle the Furman Paladins.
