Furman's Harper named Men's Golfer of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman junior Keller Harper has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from March 20-26. The selection is made by the league office.

The reigning SoCon Player of the Year, Harper won his second tournament of the 2018-19 season, turning in an 8-under-par 205 to claim the Furman Intercollegiate on the Paladins’ home course. After opening with a 1-under 70 on Friday to sit in a tie for fifth, the Atlanta, Georgia, native notched eight birdies and tied the tournament low-round record with an 8-under 63 on Saturday to vault into a tie for the lead with a score of 133, matching the 50-year-old tournament’s two-round record. Harper closed his tournament with a 1-over 72 on Sunday, sinking an 8-foot birdie putt on No. 18 to clinch medalist honors.

Harper helped the Paladins claim third in the 21-team, 120-man field, which included fellow SoCon squads Samford and Wofford.

Furman returns to action at the Wofford Intercollegiate at the Country Club of Spartanburg in Spartanburg, South Carolina, on April 1-2.

Also nominated: Zack Swanson (UNC Greensboro), Harlan Winn (Samford) and Walker Simas (Wofford).
