SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Detroit Mercy’s Lexie Kinmond and Allison McDonough have been named the Southern Conference women’s lacrosse offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for all competition March 12- 18.
A senior attacker from Peterbough, Ontario, Kinmond led the Titans in points this past week with 10. She tallied nine in a 16-12 win over Kent State on Saturday and totaled six goals and four assists in the win. The senior also tallied five draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers over the two games. Kinmond’s six goals and four assists on the week moved her into second place on Detroit Mercy’s all-time list in career points with 235 and she currently leads the SoCon in assists per game (2.14) and free-position goals per game (0.86). This is Kinmond’s second time this season being honored as the conference offensive player of the week.
McDonough, a native of Vero Beach, Florida, was named the conferences defensive player of the week. The senior recorded 22 saves, 13 against American and nine against Kent State and held American scoreless for the final 20 minutes of regulation in the Titans overtime loss. The senior recorded 16 total ground balls on the week, eight in each game, putting her at number three in Detroit Mercy’s school history for ground balls in a single game. She currently is leads the SoCon in ground balls per game (4.29) and is second in saves per game (9.43).
The Titans look to Saturday as they travel to Loretto, Pennsylvania, to battle St. Francis.
