SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Keller Harper has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from April 11-17. The selection is made by the league office and is the final one of the season.

Harper shot a 1-over-par 217 to tie for fifth at the Clemson Invitational at the Cliffs at Keowee Falls in Salem, South Carolina, on Friday and Saturday. The sophomore from Atlanta, Georgia, opened with a 1-over 73 in Friday’s first round before turning in a 1-under 71 in the afternoon round to get back to even and sit sixth after the first day. In Saturday’s closing round, Harper turned in another 73 to move up one spot on the leaderboard.

The top-10 finish was Harper’s fourth in his last five outings.

The weekly award is Harper’s third of the season and of his career.

Harper helped the Paladins to a seventh-place finish in the 12-team field, which included 15th-ranked tournament host Clemson and a pair of top-40 Tigers among the 63 competitors. 

Furman and the rest of the league return to action at the SoCon Men’s Golf Championship at Pinehurst No. 9 in Pinehurst, North Carolina, on April 22-24. The Paladins will be seeking their first team title since 2010 but will have to unseat three-time defending champion ETSU to get it. 

Also nominated: Shiso Go (ETSU) and Evan Grenus (Wofford).
