SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman sophomore Keller Harper has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from March 21-27. The selection is made by the league office.
Harper earned his second honor of the season and of his career after tying for ninth place in the 123-man field at the Furman Intercollegiate over the weekend. After opening with a 3-over-par 75 on Friday, Harper responded with a 3-under 69 Saturday to move 27 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 21st. The Atlanta, Georgia, native made another huge jump Sunday, completing his tournament with a 2-under 70 to leap another 12 spots into a tie for ninth with a three-day total of 2-under 214. He finished ahead of two of the three top-100-ranked Division I players in the field and was one of just 13 players to finish the tournament under par.
Harper helped the host Paladins to a fourth-place tie in the team standings on their home course. Twenty-eighth-ranked North Florida finished atop the 21-team field.
Furman wraps up its regular-season schedule at the Clemson Invitational at the Cliffs at Keowee Falls in Sunset, South Carolina, on April 13-15.
