SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford senior Andrew Novak has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from March 1-7. The selection is made by the league office.

Novak tied for ninth at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate, which took place Monday and Tuesday at the Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, South Carolina. The Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, native has finished in the top 10 in every tournament he’s entered in 2016-17.

Novak shot 1-over 211, opening with an even-par 70 before recording a 2-under 68 in round two. He closed with a 3-over 73 and was the top Southern Conference finisher in the field, which included four ranked teams as well as league foes Furman and Chattanooga. Six of the eight individuals who finished ahead of Novak were ranked in the top 100 nationally.

The weekly award is the fourth of Novak’s career, making him one of just six golfers in league history to earn the honor at least four times. His previous three all came last season.

The Terriers, who finished 13th in the 18-team field, return to action March 24-26 at the Furman Intercollegiate.

Also nominated: Bryce Howell (Furman), Kiko Rosete (Mercer), Wes Gosselin (Chattanooga) and Aaron Walker (Samford).
