HOUSTON – After a long delay, the Samford men's golf team completed the first round of the All-American Intercollegiate, presented by Coca-Cola, Saturday morning at the Golf Club of Houston (par 72, 7,096 yards).
The first round began Friday morning, but the teams were unable to finish until Saturday morning due to rain in the Houston area. Samford currently sits in a tie for 13th with a first-round score of 297. Houston leads the event with a 5-under-par 283.
Individually for Samford, Aaron Walker and Harlan Winn both tied for 14th with identical first-round scores of even-par 72. Garrett Moores stands in a tie for 33rd after firing an opening-round score of 73.
Alec Stopperich is tied for 90th at 80 after the first round. Crawford Flach came out of the first round in a tie for 95th with an opening-round score of 83.
Cooper Dossey of Baylor currently leads the event at four-under-par 68. Eason Wang of Lamar and Matt Scobie of Houston are tied for second at 69.
The teams will play the second round of the event Saturday, and the final round Sunday morning, beginning at 8 a.m.
