RICHMOND, Ky. – Inclement weather forced a delay of over two hours to the start of the final round of the EKU Intercollegiate, and when play did get started, Mercer’s men’s golf team dropped six spots to finish 10th.
The inclement weather early on provided challenging course conditions, as bunkers became washed out and greens could not get mowed prior to the start of play. Stanton Schorr's 2-over-par was the best round of the day for Mercer, as he finished tied for 25th overall alongside teammate Justin Connelly at 4-over 214.
Jerry Ren finished at 10-over 220 in a tie for 52nd. Hayes Rule and Kiko Rosete tied for 66th at 12-over 222.
As a team, the Bears turned in a three-round total of 864.
Mercer will compete at the Kenny Perry Invitational hosted by Western Kentucky University at The Club at Olde Stone in Bowling Green, Kentucky, on Oct. 10-11.
