SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford junior Andrew Novak has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from April 6-12. The award is selected by the league office.

Novak tied for second at the Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, shooting a 54-hole total of 10-under 206 at The Country Club of Spartanburg to help the Terriers to the second-place team finish. The Mt. Pleasant, S.C., native turned three straight rounds under par, opening with a 2-under 70 and a 1-under 71 Monday to sit in a tie for 11th. He rocketed up the leaderboard with a career-best 7-under 65 Tuesday, notching six birdies and an eagle on the day to match the lowest final round in tournament history.

Novak’s 65 matched the best round for a SoCon player this season. The top-five finish was the sixth of his junior campaign and marked the fourth time in his last six tournaments that he’s finished second or better. He also dropped his stroke average to a league-best 70.53 on the season.

Novak also earned weekly SoCon honors on Feb. 24 and March 30, making him just the fifth player in league history to earn the honor three times in a season since the SoCon began recognizing players of the week in 2001.

Also nominated: Adrian Meronk (ETSU), Jake McGlone (UNCG) and Mark David Johnson (Western Carolina).
