ETSU?s Meronk named SoCon Men?s Golfer of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU senior Adrian Meronk has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from March 9-15. The selection is made by the league office.

The 29th-ranked Meronk shot a 7-under-par 209 to finish second at the Seminole Intercollegiate, which featured seven top-100 players and four top-50 teams in the 77-man, 14-team field. Meronk finished one stroke off the pace of medalist Hank Lebioda of Florida State, the 16th-ranked golfer nationally. The Bucs tied for fourth as a team.

Meronk opened with a bogey-free 5-under 67 on Friday to share the individual lead at the end of day one. The Wroclaw, Poland, native shot a 1-over 73 in Saturday’s second round before rebounding with a 3-under 69 in round three. He finished the tournament with 33 pars and 14 birdies.

The top-10 finish was the fifth straight for Meronk, the reigning SoCon Player of the Year.

ETSU returns to action March 21-22 at the Northwest Classic in Canby, Ore.

Also nominated: Wehman Hopke (Furman), Zach Hughes (Samford), Wes Gosselin (Chattanooga) and Jackson Bishop (Western Carolina).
