JACKSON, Tenn. – Samford senior Zach Hughes finished ninth to lead the Bulldog men’s golf team at the Grover Page Classic, hosted by UT Martin, Monday and Tuesday at the Jackson Country Club.

As a team, Samford finished eighth in the event. The Bulldogs shot a three-round total of 888 (296-297-295). Arkansas State won the tournament, firing an 846 (282-284-280).

Hughes led the team with a total score of 2-under-par 214 (73-70-71). Hughes had 13 birdies in the tournament in posting his third straight top-10 finish this season.

Samford’s Austin Jackson, playing as an individual, tied for 14th in the 73-player field with a final score of 217 (74-73-70). Crawford Flach tied for 18th at 218 (68-75-75).

Aaron Walker tied for 46th with a three-round total of 229 (78-77-74). Ashton Nix tied for 49th at 230 (79-75-76), while Robert Adams posted a score of 231 (77-79-75).

Andrew Huseman of Arkansas State earned individual medalist honors, firing a three-round total score of 207 (69-70-68). Preston French of Murray State came in second with a score of 208 (65-75-68).

Samford will return to action March 20-22, when the Bulldogs take part in the Bobby Nicholls Intercollegiate, hosted by Tennessee Tech.
