MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Chattanooga Mocs men’s golf team tied for 12th at the General Hackler Championship. Sunday’s 4-over-par 292 elevated the Mocs into a tie with host Coastal Carolina at 890, one shot ahead of Virginia Tech (891).

Brooks Thomas keyed Sunday’s card shooting 2-under 70. His 224 total was third-lowest on the squad as he tied for 52nd. Wes Gosselin fired an even-par 72 to pace UTC, tying for 43rd at +6 (222).

Andrew Weathers sandwiched between Gosselin and Thomas at +7. His 223 was capped by a 75 Sunday. Kory Webb (226) and Lake Johnson (232) rounded out the Mocs’ effort.

Second-round leader No. 19 South Carolina (841) won by seven shots over No 24 Virginia in second (848), and Kent State (852) ended up third. Matthew NeSmith (USC) and Jimmy Stanger (UVa) tied for medalist honors at -9.

Chattanooga is off until the Furman Intercollegiate on March 25-27 in Greenville, S.C.
